Our Approach
Our Story
In 2017 I signed up for a service trip to Guatemala with my Spanish class. The itinerary included teaching English in a local school, building a family a new home and adding a room to a small medical facility. Several months before the trip, my teacher asked if anyone could donate computers, saying it would make a huge impact on the community. I began to ask around and by the time the trip arrived, I had 20 laptops and iPads from a local business to donate to the trip.
Over the course of our trip, we distributed the devices and I saw first hand the impact they had on the community. The school was able to access the Internet; the clinic could digitize records and the church could play new music at their service. The experience left me excited and inspired to start an organization dedicated to putting refurbished technology to good use. Gateway to Technology was born.
Since Guatemala, we've donated approximately 600 devices to students and organizations from Columbus, Ohio to Costa Rica. We are grateful for all opportunities to "retool" lives and make a positive impact through technology.
Our Approach
Gateway to Technology works with businesses and partners to repurpose their End of Life technology, such as desktops, laptops and iPads. We support underprivileged children and groups, both locally and abroad.
